Summer's Story
With her generous laugh, effortless humor and disarming smile, Summer radiated warmth and positivity that drew people in. She excelled at everything she pursued, harnessing discipline and maturity far beyond her years. Her relationship with nature was spiritual. Her compassion and care for animals were a joy to witness. Whether leading in the classroom, racing down the ski slopes, or competing on the soccer field, Summer demonstrated a tenacity that was unmatched.
That tenacity was tested when Summer was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma on her 16th birthday. Despite her shocking diagnosis, Summer tapped into her seemingly unending optimism and fought with otherworldly strength.
‘Be Strong. Be Positive. Be Better’ became Summer’s personal mantra as she navigated her cancer journey. Those six words, now known collectively as ‘Summer’s Way,’ are the guideposts that drive our mission.
